What is Messiah? The title Messiah came from the Hebrew word, "Mashiach". The Greek and Latin word for Messiah is "Cristos". Its equivalent word in English is "Christ" which means the Savior of the world. In the old testament, God told how He would send the messiah to rescue His people, to make everything right, and to destroy evil.
